A Great Place To Live
This very nice older building was built in the 1920's and used for the promotion of lots in Morro Heights. It is located on Kings Avenue. It has had many uses but still preserves the charm of Spanish influence architecture.
In December I received an email from Mickey Spencer of Brattelby, England requesting information about his maternal grandfather Alfred Penhall. He stated that Alfred owned the "Auto Court Motel" located on Highway 1 and King Street in 1946 to 1949. I didn't think there was ever a motel in that location and I called some local friends to see if they remembered anything about this motel. None did. Alfred came to the USA in 1937 and lived variously in New York, Silver Bow Montana, Kitsap, Washington, Kern County and then in Morro Bay in 1946. He died in 1949 and is buried in the Cayucos cemetery.
After a week or so of consulting with Howard Caccia, Al Jorge and Mike Dominguez, we determined that the "promotion house" had been converted to rooms and was the "auto court" in question.
Needless to say Mickey Spencer was delighted to find out this small bit of information about his grandfather and Mickey sends his thanks and says "May I offer you and all the residents of Morro Bay the compliments of the season from Lincoln (Brattelby) England.
